E d u c a t i o n: Uppsala University, classics, 1931 -1934, M. A. 1934; theology from 1934, Licentiate 1942, Doctor of Theology 1947. Paris, classical and modem Greek, 1938 - 1939.
T e a c h i n g: Uppsala University, clocent in New Testament exegesis 1947-1953, professor of Biblical exegesis from 1953. Visiting professor, Hamburg 1955 and 1961, Louvain 1971, Aarhus 1972. Sprunt lecturer, Richmond, Virginia, 1964.
Present position: Full-time working member of the official Swedish Commission for the Translation of the Bible, from 1972.
Other professional activities: Member, Swedish National Board for Research in Humanities, 1965-1971; President, Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas (Internal Organization of New Testament scholars) 1968 -1969. — Captain, Swedish army.
